Course of Infectious and Tropical Disease



This course aims to develop in students skills in the understanding, diagnosis , treatment and prevention of the most prevalent  infectious and tropical diseases in our country. Also , students should have the ability to propose a workplan to the study and monitoring of patients with infectious and tropical diseases.


The teaching activities are carried out in Lima and Iquitos . The teaching methods include lectures, discussion of clinical cases , clinical and laboratory practices , participatory conferences and iconography , both in the wards and outpatient teaching headquarters of Cayetano Heredia and Arzobispo Loayza National Hospital and in the Iquitos hospitals and areas of influence.


This course is intended for students in the fifth year of medicine at the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia. Lasts five weeks : 4 weeks activities are conducted in Lima and a week in Iquitos, which allows students to meet other medical reality and behavior of the population , with a view to preparing them for clinical practice , once you graduate from the College.
