The Immunology Laboratory of IMT (ImmunoLab) led by Dr. Martin Montes is dedicated to research and academic activities, and diagnostic service.

  • In the research area, projects are developed to elucidate human immunological mechanisms in response to retroviral infections and their co-infections, as well as parasitic infections, mycobacteria and fungi, considered neglected tropical diseases.
  • At the academic level, ImmunoLab develops activities at the undergraduate level in the Faculty of Medicine with courses in immunology (2nd year) and Immunopathology (3rd year), postgraduate course in pathology, and development of the Gorgas course in Tropical Medicine Additionally, a research elective on Infection and Immunity for medical students is carried out, in which students are incorporated to be part of the ImmunoLab and develop their research and thesis projects.
  • ImmunoLab has diagnostic service including lymphocyte counts, ELISA, Quantiferon, etc.
  • International Electives Courses for Medical Students of the United States through an agreement with the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston.

  • Estudio piloto: funcionalidad de linfocitos NK y prevalencia de lesiones pre-malignas en cuello uterino en mujeres con respuesta inmunológica incompleta al TARV.
  • Asociación entre status VIH y posibilidad de interacciones medicamentosas en pacientes en un hospital de tercer nivel de atención.
